According to Mark 16:19, Luke 24:51, and Acts 1:2, the Ascension of the Lord is the ascent of Jesus Christ into heaven on the 40th day after his Resurrection (Easter being considered as day one). Mount Olive near Bethany is traditionally considered the place where Christ ascended into Heaven. The feast falls on a Thursday each year.
