Advent is a time of preparation. We prepare our hearts and our minds for the birth of Christ. We celebrate this occasion with Advent wreaths and Christmas trees.
Did you know that the advent wreath contains 3 purple candles and 1 rose candle? The purple color signifies sacrifice, peace, prayer, penance and doing good for the benefit of others. The rose candle signifies the rejoicing of the faithful.
The lighting of the Advent candle is symbolic of hope as Christ will come again in all his Glory!
On the horizon of hope, Pope Francis reminds us what the Advent season is all about:
