The title “Mother of God” goes back to the third or fourth century, but the Greek term Theotokos (“The God-bearer”) was officially consecrated as Catholic doctrine at the Council of Ephesus in 431, thus becoming the first Marian dogma. At the end of the Council of Ephesus, crowds of people marched through the streets shouting: “Praised be the Theotokos!”
This Catholic doctrine is based on the doctrine of Incarnation, as expressed by St. Paul: “God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law” (Galatians 4:4).
In its chapter on Mary’s role in the Church, Vatican II’s Dogmatic Constitution “Lumen Gentium” (“Light of the People”) calls Mary “Mother of God” 12 times.
On this day the Catholic Church also celebrates the World Day of Peace, a tradition established by Pope Paul VI and confirmed by Pope John Paul II.

This banner is approximately 84″ tall. It is printed on durable, high quality polypropylene media with archival inks.

As you know, we keep a copy of each of your bulletins and at the end of the year we have them bound and send them to you in one volume.
Some of you prefer that the Bound Volume contain the copies that you have been saving, so your inserts can be included within the Bound Volume.
If you plan to send your copies, they must be in our office no later than Friday, January 10th. Please make sure they are sorted January through December. The inserts should be tucked firmly into the bulletins and cannot be stapled in as the bindery company will not process stapled pages.
If you plan to send your own bulletins to us please call Kim at 800.783.1623 or email Kim as soon as possible, to let her know you will be sending your own copies. Thank you.
For those of you who are submitting your bulletins, please send them to the following address:
Diocesan Publications
Attn: Kim Siebelink

Byron Center, MI 49315
If you have any questions about the Bound Volume process, please feel free to contact me.
