In a perfect world, we’d all have the opportunity to travel to a Catholic shrine somewhere around the globe. We could prayerfully enjoy church architecture, celebrate Mass in a foreign tongue, meet pilgrims from other nations, and experience the joy of the universal Church.
Yet, we don’t live in a perfect world. While many of us will make such a pilgrimage in our lives, most of us also have responsibilities that keep us close to home. The following list is for the Armchair Pilgrim: curled up in a favorite chair, rosary beads close by, ready to jet off on a virtual tour of some of our world’s most sacred site. Also included here is a link to Holy Door pilgrimage sites for this Jubilee Year of Mercy, and virtual Stations of the Cross. Hopefully, being an Armchair Pilgrim will enrich your spiritual life this Lent.
