Our God is a God of wonder and might, of making the impossible possible and, who will, as Elizabeth says, “take away my disgrace before others.” Has God ever taken away your disgrace? Maybe a situation or event that was out of your control was made right? Or maybe you left the faith for a time, have come back and now see how your leaving has been turned into good?
God does that for us. He takes our pain, struggles, sorrows, and failings and turns them into something wonderful. He takes away our disgrace in ways we cannot imagine in the midst of our pain. In my own life, it has happened time and time again. Today I am celebrating a milestone birthday, and this year has been a struggle in many different ways. Many days I sat and cried out to God, asking Him what was happening and what was the plan. He reminded me to look at the blessings this year had, a new granddaughter and daughter-in-law, amazing professional opportunities, ministry growth and many answered prayers for our family.
The year is almost over and Christ’s birth is upon us, the time is now to sing with the psalmist, “My mouth shall be filled with your praise, and I will sing your glory!” I have learned that my focus guides and maybe even determines my outlook and attitude on life. What am I looking at? I cannot recount most of the difficult situations of this past year; they are not mine to tell. In many moments of wanting to give up, I kept turning toward God, mostly in His word, for reassurance and direction. And God showed up. As He always does because He is God. No matter what is happening right now in your life, turn to the Father of Truth and remember that He will take away all your disgrace and you will sing of His glory.
Nuestro Dios es un Dios de asombro y poder, de hacer posible lo imposible y que, como dice Isabel, “se dignó quitar el oprobio que pesaba sobre mí”. ¿Alguna vez Dios te ha quitado la desgracia? Tal vez una situación o evento que estaba fuera de tu control se puso bien? ¿O tal vez dejaste la fe por un tiempo, has regresado y ahora ves cómo tu partida se ha convertido en un bien?
Dios hace eso por nosotros. Toma nuestro dolor, luchas, penas y fracasos y los convierte en algo maravilloso. Quita nuestra desgracia en formas que no podemos imaginar en medio de nuestro dolor. En mi propia vida, ha sucedido una y otra vez. Hoy estoy celebrando un cumpleaños importante, y de muchas formas este año ha sido una batalla. Muchos días me senté y reclamé a Dios, preguntándole qué estaba pasando y cuál era el plan. Me recordaba mirar las bendiciones que había recibido este año, una nueva nieta y nuera, increíbles oportunidades profesionales, crecimiento ministerial y muchas oraciones respondidas por nuestra familia.
El año casi termina y el nacimiento de Cristo está por llegar. Ahora es el momento de cantar con el salmista: “¡Que mi boca, Señor, no deje de alabarte!” He aprendido que mi enfoque guía y tal vez incluso determina mi perspectiva y actitud ante la vida. ¿Qué estoy mirando? No puedo contar la mayoría de las situaciones difíciles de este último año; no son míos para contar. En muchos momentos de querer darme por vencido, seguí volviéndome hacia Dios, principalmente en Su palabra, en busca de consuelo y dirección. Y apareció Dios. Como siempre lo hace, porque es Dios. No importa lo que esté pasando en este momento en tu vida, vuélvete al Padre de la Verdad y recuerda que Él quitará toda tu vergüenza y cantarás de Su gloria.
