Come to Me / Ven a Mí

Jesus invites us to come to Him, to make His Heart our refuge. This invitation is especially for those who are struggling, overworked, troubled, anxious, or grief-stricken and carrying a heavy load. The truth is, at times we all feel this way. These difficulties should not prevent us from encountering the love of Christ, but rather bring us to a deeper relationship with Jesus. Jesus doesn’t want us to stay in our misery, but rather He invites us to encounter His love and learn from His Word. 

Jesus tells us about His Heart. He shares that “I am meek and humble of Heart.” Our Lord, Our God, tells us the type of heart He has. This is shared through the Gospel message and as a direct quote from Christ. He states, “I am.” This points to the Old Testament, where “I AM” is the term used to describe God, a term God Himself gave to Moses when he asked, “who should I say sent me?” Jesus is God and invites us to use our free will for His greater glory. How can we do this? By being meek and humble. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and He transforms us so that we can be a living example of Himself.

Today the Church recalls the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a great Solemnity in honor of the loving Heart of Christ. This feast day is nestled in the month of the Sacred Heart when the Catholic Church focuses on this powerful devotion.

This feast day was requested by our Lord so that we would come to honor His Heart as shown in the visions St. Margaret Mary had in the 1670’s. In these visions, Jesus extended a compelling invitation to allow His love to reign in our hearts. As the world “dethrones” our Lord, we are invited to do acts of reparation by offering up our joys, works, sorrows, worship, and praise to console the Lord, and grow closer to His Most Perfect Heart. St. Margaret shares that: “His love urges Him to distribute the inexhaustible treasures of His satisfying and salutary graces to the souls of good will. He seeks hearts that are empty, in order to fill them with the sweet unction of His burning love.” (St. Margaret Mary)

We must not get discouraged but rather keep our eyes focused on Christ and share His authentic and holy love with others. Recall that all are invited to encounter His loving Heart and allow His ways to become their ways. This feast day is an opportunity to be set on fire with the love of Christ and live out the invitation to love others with Christ’s love.

Jesús nos invita a acercarnos más a Él, a hacer de Su Corazón nuestro refugio. Esta invitación es especialmente para aquellos que están luchando, sobrecargados de trabajo, atribulados, ansiosos o afligidos y que llevan una carga pesada. La verdad es que a veces todos nos sentimos así. Estas dificultades no deben impedirnos encontrar el amor de Cristo, sino llevarnos a una relación más profunda con Jesús. Jesús no quiere que nos quedemos en nuestra miseria, sino que nos invita a encontrarnos con su amor y aprender de su Palabra.

Jesús nos habla de Su Corazón. Él comparte que “soy manso y humilde de corazón”. Nuestro Señor, Nuestro Dios, nos dice el tipo de corazón que tiene. Lo comparte a través del mensaje del Evangelio en una cita directa de Cristo. Declara: “Yo soy”. Esto se refiere al Antiguo Testamento, donde “YO SOY” es el término que se usa para describir a Dios, un término que Dios mismo le dio a Moisés cuando preguntó: “¿Quién debo decir que me envió?” Jesús es Dios y nos invita a usar nuestro libre albedrío para Su mayor gloria. ¿Cómo podemos hacer esto? Siendo manso y humilde. Jesús es el camino, la verdad y la vida, y nos transforma para que podamos ser un ejemplo vivo de Él mismo.

Hoy la Iglesia celebra la Fiesta del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, una gran Solemnidad en honor al Corazón amoroso de Cristo. Esta fiesta cae en medio del mes del Sagrado Corazón cuando la Iglesia Católica se enfoca en esta poderosa devoción.

Nuestro Señor nos pidió que celebráramos este día para que viniéramos a honrar Su Corazón como se muestra en las visiones que tuvo Santa Margarita María en la década de 1670. En estas visiones, Jesús extendió una invitación apremiante para permitir que Su amor reine en nuestros corazones. A medida que el mundo “destrona” a nuestro Señor, estamos invitados a hacer actos de reparación ofreciendo nuestras alegrías, trabajos, tristezas, adoración y alabanza para consolar al Señor y acercarnos a Su Corazón Perfectísimo. Santa Margarita comparte que: “Su amor lo impulsa a distribuir los tesoros inagotables de sus gracias saciantes y saludables a las almas de buena voluntad. Busca los corazones vacíos para llenarlos con la dulce unción de su amor ardiente. ” (Santa Margarita María)

No debemos desanimarnos sino mantener la mirada puesta en Cristo y compartir su auténtico y santo amor con los demás. Recuerden que todos están invitados a encontrar Su Corazón amoroso y dejar que le guíe por Sus caminos. Este día de fiesta es una oportunidad para encenderse con el amor de Cristo y vivir la invitación a amar a los demás con el amor de Cristo.
