It Won’t Last / No PerdurarĂ¡

Sometimes in life we need to actively work to live in the moment. We can wallow in regrets over the past or become preoccupied with worries about the future. For those times, Jesus reminds us of the futility of worry and that sufficient for one day is its own evil (see Matthew 6).

At other times, we can become stuck in the current moment and lose our perspective. We might forget that all things in this world, for better or worse, are fleeting, and that the world to come is eternal.

Though I have read the beatitudes dozens of times and even studied them in detail, when I read them today, it struck me that all of these “blesseds” and “woes” remind us that our current state is not permanent. Like it or not, whatever we are experiencing in this world right now, it will pass.

Let’s live like it.
